Meet Our Herd

Our herd are more than horses — they are our greatest teachers.

At Tranquil Island, horses live as naturally as possible within a thoughtfully designed 25-acre laneway system.

This track system blends the best principles of Paddock Paradise and the Equiculture System, encouraging natural movement, grazing, play, and social interaction. Our horses live the way nature intended — freely, thoughtfully, and in community.

Life Within the Herd

The laneways wind through open fields, wetlands, and shady spaces, allowing the herd to move at will, loaf in the sun, or gallop with joy.

Wide spaces let them gather in groups, while secluded corners allow individuals time alone when needed. This freedom strengthens their mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing — and allows their natural personalities to shine.

    Sage

Nurturing mother of Sassy. A super gentle soul who loves being part of her herd. Sage loves to be groomed.

Her unusual blaze shows up with different images to different people. What can you see in it?

    Sassy Grace

The youngest member of the herd. Independent, very smart and even calculating! Sassy has completed over 1000km of Endurance and Intermediate Rides. Faced with situations that would cause other horses to panic, Sass has remained calm and has extracted herself with finesse and dignity.

    Kelsey

Kelsey can seem like a dark horse but she is the amazing herd leader, busy observing the safety and continuity of her herd.

Alert but not alarmed, Kelsey likes a gentle back or chest scratch.

    Streak

Kelsey’s shadow most of the time. The only gelding (male).

Playful, friendly, easygoing. Doesn’t like being wormed. Streak likes playing with people in the obstacle course. He has a special and unusual spot where he likes to be scratched!

    Serena

     Regal, competitive and watchful.

Serena has completed over 2500 kms of Endurance Rides including 400km Shahzada and coveted The Tom Quilty 160km

Serena is a gentle but dominant soul and loves a warm bath and a forehead rub.

An Invitation to Connection

When you meet our herd, you meet authentic, individual souls.

Each member of our herd has a unique story and spirit, and each offers something special to those who come here.

In every interaction — a quiet nuzzle, a playful run, a soft-eyed glance — you’ll feel the wisdom and calm that only horses can share. Spending time with them is not just about learning horsemanship; it's about discovering yourself.
